  • My New Diabetes Articles for HealthCentral:

Last month HealthCentral published six more of my diabetes articles about all aspects of the condition:

    Which Starch for Dinner
What if you don't want any starch for dinner or for any other meal? Here is your guide.

    The Nova Max Plus Meter
Nobody questions our need for blood glucose meters to be accurate. Yet only a few of the meter manufacturers seem to be doing anything about it. This new meter could be one of the best.

    Medical Misinformation Can Kill Us
The Internet is full of medical information. Doctor's office are too

Natural Exercise to Help Manage Diabetes
Exercise can help us reduce stress in busy lives. But it matters a lot where we get that exercise.

    Metformin Forever
I am sometimes proud that I don't have to take any drugs to control my diabetes. But I am considering taking one, metformin. This article indicates that everyone needs to consider one of the most effective of our diabetes medications, one of the safest, and now that generic forms are available is the least expensive.

  • Fitness and Photograph for Fun:

Last month I published 16 more of my articles on staying fit by getting the activity we need. Photography gets me to hike, and hiking keeps me fit:

Betasso's Ponderosas My third trip to Betasso Preserve in a week might seem like too much. But this one showed me some of the most beautiful birds in the world, birds that love ponderosa pine trees.

Lichen Loop Lichens are a symbiotic combination of two organisms, generally a fungus and an algae. Actually, we are all symbiotic organisms, although we have been slow to recognize that fact.

Hall Ranch My longest hike of the month, 10 miles through most of Hall Ranch, also gave me some beautiful views and photographs.

    Clear Creek
Just 22 miles south of my apartment in Boulder is Prospect Park and Clear Creek. There I found beautiful birds, including the Wood Duck that illustrates this issue of "Diabetes Update".

Southeast Arizona's La Posta Quemada Ranch

My visit to this ranch in April started a great trip to Southeast Arizona, one of the world's top birding sites. The trip offered everything that I expected -- except hot weather. This is the first of my 11 photo essay about this trip, and the other 10 are also online in my "Fitness and Photography" blog.

Goslings at Tantra Lake Birth is always wonderful. Young people and young animals and young birds seem especially beautiful to me. I got a chance at the end of April to see and photograph some very young birds.

  • New Flickr Site
I keep added some of my favorites nature photographs on Flickr.com. In the past month I have added several more. You can find them the easiest way by clicking here

  • Dr. Bernstein's Webcast

If you have any interest in controlling your diabetes by low-carb eating, one of the best resources is Dr. Richard K. Bernstein's monthly webcast. It's an hour of excellent diabetes education available free either on the Internet or by phone. You can click here to register http://www. diabetes911.net/askdrb/index. php.

Dr. Bernstein's next live webcast will be on Wednesday, May 30, 2012, at 7 p.m. CST, 8 p.m. EST, 6 p.m. MST, and 5 p.m. PST. He designed it to answer your most important questions concerning diabetes and to offer his thoughts on the latest developments in this area. The special topic for this webcast will be "Pros and cons of using statins."

  • Searching for My Articles
Whenever you want to find anything that I have written about diabetes -- whether on my website or on HealthCentral Network -- the easiest way is to use the search tool on my site. You can search for all of the articles on my site or for the "Diabetes Developments" blog or the "Fitness and Photography for Fun" blog or what I have written at HealthCentral, which is now a part of Remedy Health Media.

Just go to mendosa.com/search and check which one of the four sites you want to search and enter what you want to find in the search block.
